The cable operator I was forced to deal with (Time Warner) was downright horrible. Their customer service is absolute crap. Not to mention their cable lineup.
So, made the switch to DISH Network.
DISH is alright. That is, if you're not into sports. I'm not really impressed with the lineup they have. Yeah, they have extra regional channels, and some of their channels are in HD. But the one channel they don't have is the YES Network.
I've asked numerous times and their answer is always, "it would cost too much money for the network to pick up."
Sounds familiar? Now, I'm willing to pay extra for the channel. I don't care how much it would cost. But DISH says they have my best interests at hand! YEAH, RIGHT!!
Now this is where it really gets monotonous!
I live in the Syracuse, New York area.
Because I don't have the YES Network, and because I refuse to get cable TV, I'm unable to get the "Extra Innings" package. That package is on DirecTV. Even worse, MLB.TV has a blackout rule for those who want to watch on the Internet.
Those viewers who live in territories that baseball teams are in are unable to watch their favorite teams.
i.e. -If you lived in Plattsburgh, New York (400 miles away), you would be unable to see the Yankess or Mets. St. Louis Cardinals fans in Grand Island, Nebraska (500 miles away) would be shut out!
Click the map below and see where your territory lies under baseball's ridiculous scheme!

I'm not going back to cable. I'm not really in the mood to change satellite providers. So what's a fan to do?
I will say this. The unreasonable blackout rules that baseball has implemented on their fans will only alienate potential fans. Switching to a football style blackout system will make their product more successful.
